On the crisp spring afternoon of April 3rd, 2026, the snowy forest of Guðmundarlundur transformed once again into a magical wonderland for the annual Prinsessur Easter Egg Hunt. Despite a season marked by extreme weather, this beloved event returned stronger than ever—bringing together families, fairytale characters, and an entire community to create something truly special.
This year’s event was particularly meaningful. For the first time, the Easter Egg Hunt was held without municipal grant support from Kópavogur or Hafnarfjörður. Determined to continue the tradition, the Prinsessur team reached out to over 150 companies and community members. Thanks to this incredible effort, the event was fully brought to life through community support.
A Magical Day for Kids and Families
The Prinsessur Easter Egg Hunt saw 200 children registered, with around 160 attending—a strong turnout given the challenging conditions. Although the weather on the day was calm and pleasant, the forest remained covered in 50–100 cm of snow, creating a truly unique and storybook-like setting.
Children took part in a guided Easter egg hunt through the forest, where every participant was guaranteed exciting prizes, including chocolate eggs and small treasures. With such a large turnout, the event maintained a warm, personal atmosphere while welcoming more families than ever before.
In addition to the hunt, families enjoyed:
- Complimentary snacks for all attendees
- A rich, immersive outdoor setting unlike any previous year
- A carefully structured experience designed to keep the event flowing smoothly
Beloved Characters and an Expanded Cast
This year featured the largest character line-up in Prinsessur history, made possible by additional community support that allowed the event to grow beyond its original scope.
Children met and interacted with:
- The Snow Sisters and the Mountain Man
- Garðabrúða and her Thief Prince
- The Mermaid Princess
- Fríða
- A mischievous Pirate
With eight characters उपस्थित throughout the event, children had more opportunities than ever to engage, play, and step into a magical world—not just observe it.
A Community-Powered Celebration
What could have been a challenging year became our most ambitious event to date, thanks to the incredible support of our partners.
